So there we were, in front of this gorgeous fountain called Le Bassin d’Apollon (a.k.a. The Fountain of Apollo). It stands in the gardens of the Château de Versailles. The horses appeared so boisterous leaping out of the water’s edge. It was irresistible. Not just to draw them but to try to capture how they felt. Art by Michele Bedigian
View post →This is one of those HUGE drawings I mentioned once before done on site a few summers back. You’d have to enlarge it to appreciate the pockets of drawing weaving in and out of the picture. It’s honestly a favorite of mine I guess because of it’s complications and the “study within the study”. The Mickey ears might […]
View post →it is a white ball against a sky so blue it hurts your eyes it is thick grass, so perfectly green day fading into evening as cheers fade to silence soft moonlight on an empty park full of promise with morning light crack of a bat, the graceful arc flies over the wall little white […]
View post →Â Â I met a woman recently who shared with me an incredible Hopi river story that I have revisited daily to remind myself when things get too noisy it’s easier to go with the flow rather than resist it. I thought it’d be perfect to share as a really nice way to start a […]
View post →With obligations at home I haven’t found myself on the subway much since the New Year. This past Tuesday (some of you might recall) it was ridiculously frigid in the city and everyone was bundled up to the gild. I sat across this woman who must’ve had 40 layers on. It was a quirky sight…all […]
View post →Yesterday was the first of the year and we wanted to do something special with the kids to honor the day. So we took them to see the Holiday Train Show at the NYBG. It was as beautiful as ever and the kids were amazed when they saw “Thomas” whizzing by on the railroad […]
View post →I just loved Dom’s post yesterday. Yet I have to share … At the moment I’m kinda feeling the crunch. Anthropologie just sent out a blast titled “5 more sleeps till Christmas!” Really, did you have to? So I’m taking a break (as brief as it is) to post a drawing (and it’s thumbnail) […]
View post →And the band plays on! … As the festivities begin for the holiday fare thought it’d be nice to share a drawing done on New Year’s day on Main Street USA in Disney. Have a magical, stress free weekend. – Michele
View post →Like a town stuck in time but with the occasional hole in the space-time continuum to allow for modern touches, Newport, with its stunning harbor and bevy of old homes, is the quintessential New England town and a destination we (my family) utterly adores. Above is a page from my sketchbook during one of our visits. View post →Yesterday I had the RAREÂ luxury of having some time in the morning to myself. I grabbed my bag and headed straight for Panera Bread where I knew I’d find all sorts of interesting people to draw. Above is a page from my sketchbook while sitting peacefully with a simple cup of tea. It’s not often […]
View post →Paris is by far one of my favorite places on earth (for those who don’t already know) and modern technology reminded me at 5am this morning when one of my best friends text’d me and said she just rode her bike past the Louvre. Above was a study done at the Picasso museum in Paris while […]
View post →I found myself drawing, painting, cutting paper, using digital and sculpting all in one image hunting for “beauty”. So much fun. Another lesson in letting the process be …..loved it! Happy Friday! Michele
