Each weekend Studio 1482 will be featuring posts from the One Drawing A Day archives. Today’s post is by Margaret Hurst, from back in 2016. It’s titled “9/11 Memorial Survivor Tree.”

This past week I took a subway ride down to the World Trade Center. As I was walking around outside I saw the 9/11 Memorial Survivor Pear Tree with beautiful colorful ribbons hanging from it. After the mass shootings in Orlando, Florida, people came and tied ribbons on the Pear Tree in solidarity with those who were killed and injured. The sign read, “These ribbons have been tied in tribute to those who were killed in Orlando.”
